The Tail of the Dragon

We’re headed into what looks like, in the Southeast at least, a beautiful weekend. And on a beautiful weekend, I love to go for a drive. This weekend, of course, it will be a beautiful drive to a place where I can do a beautiful (and probably hard … fingers crossed) 16 mile run. More on that later. On a recent weekend, though, that drive was on the Tail of the Dragon, a scenic Blue Ridge Mountain highway from Tennessee to North Carolina and, eventually, into Georgia.

The Tail can be overrun with motorcycles once the weather gets really warm, so car drivers might (unless you adore motorcycles) enjoy the trip more in the early spring or late fall. Here’s a little peek …
